When Ahmed arrived in the U.S., his first thought was to call his parents to let them know he'd arrived safely. He was flabbergasted that he could not afford to buy a device without first signing up for a 2-year contract, which he was unable to do since he did not have a social security number, let alone a credit history-his college roommate had to co-sign with him. It was that seminal moment when he decided he would find a way to help customers in the U.S. enjoy the benefits of GSM technology like the international community, where phones are unlocked and mobile plans are available contract free. Today, GSM Nation is disrupting the status quo by providing unlocked, contract-free smartphones to consumers. In doing so, the company is not only helping those consumers save thousands of dollars in cellphone bills, but changing the way people think about mobile service
