Karma

Karma began with one simple idea: everyone should be able to get online, seamlessly and headache-free, everywhere they go. Karma is the first peer-to-peer Wi-Fi device and service that allows users to pay-as-you-go, with no contracts, and is made for sharing. No gimmicks, no contracts, no hidden agendas. A refreshing new approach to Internet freedom and access. Karma is all about sharing and making sure everyone has access to the Internet at anytime. Users can share their Karma connection, and are rewarded with free data. It's good for all. Founded in 2012 and based in New York City, Karma was part of TechStars New York. In the second half of 2014, the company will launch its newest product. Plans for Karma: https://blog.yourkarma.com/global-future-of-karma

Steven van Wel

CEO & Co-Founder

31-year old Steven van Wel is the CEO and Co-Founder of Karma. A dad of two, a runner, a designer, an author and now a CEO of a company that is shaking up the stodgy telecom industry, Steven is a true renaissance man. Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, he started his first company when he was 19 years old. He is currently based in New York, where Karma was launched while in the TechStars program. At Karma, he's applying his passion (and mission in life) to create simple-to-use products. Meet Steven in this one-minute video where he explains how he thinks, and his approach to problem solving in business: http://vimeo.com/50834315. More here: http://stevenvanwel.nl Beyond Karma, he is also the co-author of the book Elastic Beanstalk, published by O'Reilly in 2011, and previously founded cloud printing startup Marvia (acquired by PostNL).
